Chatto holds office at the People’s Mansion

From now on, Gov. Edgar Chatto will hold office at the People’s Mansion except on every Monday which he has declared the People’s Day at the provincial capitol.

This is again unprecedented in Bohol’s recent memory because his predecessors used to dispense authority from the governor’s office at capitol.

Chatto’s declared institutionaization alone of every Monday as People’s Day is already a rare governor’s act since no provincial chief executive before him had ever done so, many Boholanos claimed.

The 25th Bohol governor, clarified, however, that he will spend the whole of every Monday with the people at his capitol office, except when he has urgent or highly-necessary outside commitments.

Chatto calls his “new seat” the “Mansion Office of the Governor” precisely because it is right inside the People’s Mansion, for so long known as the Governor’s Mansion.

While doing his official business there, the governor will also receive the province’s official visitors, including dignitaries, at his mansion office, which has two spacious rooms on the ground floor of the People’s Mansion.

The office was blessed on Sunday with no less than Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay as its first official visitor. The vice president and the governor were joined by the Bohol mayors led by their league president and executive vice president Loay Mayor Rosemarie Imboy and Trinidad Mayor Roberto Cajes, respectively..

The vice president of the Republic interacted with the Bohol leaders, who also included the members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, before Binay and Chatto joined together again on stage during the Sandugo streetdance showdown inside the CPG Sports Complex. Provincial Alfonso Damalerio acted as moderator of the forum with Binay.

At his mansion office, the governor can easily be accessible by the people thru their municipal leaders since the offices of the League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) and Vice Mayors’ League of the Philippines are now both at People’s Mansion.

Consistent with his pro-people stance, Chatto will have the governor’s office at the capitol refurbished. It is his steaming desire to make the people feel at home and comfortable there on People’s Day every Monday.

Likewise, the rooms other than the governor’s office at the People’s Mansion will undergo improvement to accommodate official guests, dignitaries and other important visitors.

Because the mansion office of Chatto and the offices of the leagues of mayors and vice mayors are this time under one roof, interaction among Bohol leaders can become more often.

As a consequence, quick responses to the varied concerns of the people can be made, the governor said.

Effectively, the governor can widen his open line of communication to the leaders in the towns and barangays and to the Boholanos in general.

Because it is on the ground floor of the People’s Mansion, accessibility is no longer a problem to the governor who has difficulty in walking as a result of polio that struck him at his tender age.

Some mayors could only expect a Chatto that is more “WARM” or “willing, able, ready and moving” now that he has “twin governor’s offices.”

In a language so firm, one mayor said Chatto is one leader he knows of who can sacrifice his sleep just to watch the course of his fellow Boholanos. (Ven rebo Arigo)
